After their sold-out debut at the Pantheon almost three years ago, anticipation is high for the Bonn quintet. Born out of an enthusiasm for travel and languages, the French-German-Polish band led by Franco-American singer Marion Lenfant-Preus and Polish guitarist Alexander “Sobo” Sobocinski creates its own modern style of vocal gypsy jazz, global music and chanson.

Marion & Sobo Band sings and plays with charm, humor, lightness and joy of playing for a cross-cultural and cross-generational audience. With their new album “Histoires” (album of the week at WDR3 and SWR2) the Marion & Sobo Band presents a captivating, at the same time playful album full of fantasy, humor and colorful music.

In addition to their own compositions, they interpret some classics as a tribute to their musical roots of Western and Eastern Europe between the French swing of the 30s to the traditional melodies of the Balkans. Colorful stories, Marion tells in six different languages -from elegant French to fairy-tale Romanes and just as colorful and diverse is the musical language of the band, which is mainly influenced by Gypsy Swing “à la Django”, but their music is “transformed into the here and now with acrobatic solos, improvisations and surprising arrangements” (Jazzpodium).
