Thomas Kimmerle presents JAZZ IN CONCERT

Double concert: NOOMAE & Andreas Theobald Trio

Foreword by Thomas Kimmerle:

For many years, it has been important to me to give young musical talents and up-and-coming musicians a stage.
My work as a big band leader with pupils and young people and concert formats such as the Jazztube Bonn in co-operation with Stadtwerke Bus und Bahn Bonn have underlined this for many years.
This is an important and valuable form of support and gives the opportunity to grow musically.

I would be delighted if you, dear audience, would also support this endeavour and attend this concert in large numbers.

Like all my concerts in the series “Thomas Kimmerle presents JAZZ IN CONCERT”, this concert is financed ONLY by the tickets sold!
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Pantheon Theatre once again for the many years of good cooperation that have made this possible.

NOOMAE plays music to feel, dance and enjoy.

The band formed in Cologne in the summer of 2023 and the first concert took place in Bonn at the old customs office.
NOOMAE made brilliant use of this “wild card” and opened the Jazztube Bonn 2023 as part of the Stadtgartenkonzerte to great applause from the audience.
While the band was still playing, the idea of a double concert with the Andreas Theobald Trio at the Pantheon Theatre was born.

The four musicians from Cologne, led by singer and composer Noomi Mae Coleman, combine elements from the traditions of R’n’B and jazz with their own sound ideas that sound fresh and lively.
Noomi’s warm voice lends a unique intensity to the lyrics about self-discovery, love and social dynamics.
Together with Ursula Wienken’s sensitive bass playing and Jonas Heck’s pulsating drums, they form the centrepiece of the sound.
Lukas Langguth’s lively piano playing completes the band’s overall picture.

Andreas Theobald Trio

The young pianist Andreas Theobald is no longer an unknown in Bonn, as a student he played in the Jugend Jazz Orchester Bonn, which received the WDR Jazz Prize 2024 this year, before maturing his musical skills in the Jugend Jazz Orchester NRW and at the Cologne University of Music. He is currently doing a master’s degree in composition.
He has also been a guest at the Jazztube Bonn several times as a bandleader and sideman and has always been able to inspire the audience.

“The world is an infinite chain reaction – everything flows, everything is in motion”. The debut album by pianist Andreas Theobald takes us into his cosmos of melodies and beautiful sounds. The title “Movimiento” functions as a teapot and alludes to both the Latin American influences and the symphonic structure of his music. The Bonn-born composer’s work was honoured at the international composition competition “Musica Sacra Nova 2021” and he is currently nominated for the German Jazz Award as the composer of the MDR choir project “A Kind Of…Choral Music”.

With Calvin Lennig on double bass and Lukas Schwegmann on drums, two old companions from the NRW Youth Jazz Orchestra complete the trio. All three share a passion for creative detail and lyrical improvisation. The trio plays the programme from the current album “Movimiento”.

Quotes:
“He is a friend of cultivated melodiousness, somehow a modern romantic”
(Karmen Mikovic – hr2-kultur, “Jazz Now“)

“His “Movimiento” brings a very talented musician within reach who raises hopes in the jazz sky.”
(Ernst Weiss – Zeitschrift “Concerto”)
